Picture an intensive care unit at 3 a.m.: a patient fighting for every breath, monitors glowing, and beside the bed a machine doing the breathing for them — quietly, precisely, hour after hour. The ventilator is one of the most consequential machines in a hospital, and Gurugram-based Allied Medical has just launched a new one designed and built entirely in India.

ALTUS: intelligent, adaptive, versatile
Allied Medical launched ALTUS, its new series of ventilators, on 2 November 2026, at an event bringing together the company’s channel partners and its own team. The company describes the series in three words: intelligent, adaptive and versatile — a ventilator built around what clinicians actually need at the bedside, in intensive care units and emergency settings where patients depend on assisted breathing.
According to the company, ALTUS has been designed and built in India, and its features were developed with clinicians’ requirements in mind. Ventilators are life-support equipment in the truest sense: they take over or support breathing for patients who cannot breathe adequately on their own, and they must keep working flawlessly through the longest, hardest nights in the ICU. That is the standard ALTUS has been built to meet, with the company positioning the series as a commitment to the clinicians and hospitals that depend on critical care equipment in life-threatening situations.
Four decades of Indian medical manufacturing behind it
ALTUS does not come from a newcomer. Allied Medical was founded in 1982, and the company says it brings more than four decades of experience in designing and manufacturing healthcare solutions in India. Its products are made to ISO and CE certified quality and safety standards, and the company says it has passed a million successful installations, serves 36,000 happy clients and exports to 64 countries.
The company’s leadership — chairman Dr. Vinod Kohli and joint managing directors Akhil Kohli and Aditya Kohli — presented ALTUS as the latest chapter in that story: world-class critical care technology, made accessible through indigenous design and manufacturing. Allied Medical’s range already spans anaesthesia systems to emergency care devices, and ALTUS extends that line into the heart of the ICU.
Why an Indian ventilator matters
India has long relied on imported ventilators for much of its critical care capacity, and every Indian-made series that reaches hospitals chips away at that dependence. A ventilator designed in India, built in India and supported by an Indian service network means hospitals can source, maintain and scale critical care equipment closer to home — and it puts Indian engineering directly beside the patient, where it matters most.
With ALTUS, Allied Medical says it aims to further its presence in the critical care segment while advancing its commitment to indigenous medical technology innovation. For a company that has spent 44 years building medical devices for India and the world, the new series is a confident next step: an Indian ventilator, built for Indian ICUs and beyond.
