Every motorcycle that hums through an Indian street, every tractor that works a field, every truck that hauls goods across a highway — inside each of them, a small, perfectly cut piece of steel is doing its quiet, essential work. Gears and shafts are the hidden heartbeat of every vehicle, and for more than four decades, one Noida company has been cutting them to perfection for the world.

RACL Geartech Limited, headquartered at B-9, Sector-3, Noida, is one of India’s largest technology hubs for complex gear manufacturing solutions. The company says it serves a global clientele across the automotive industry and beyond, with more than 900 SKUs shipped worldwide, over 22 active customers, and a workforce of more than 800 people.

From Noida to the world’s finest vehicles

Incorporated in 1983, RACL Geartech makes transmission gears, shafts, engine timing gears and sprockets — the precision components that transfer power smoothly from engine to wheel. Its range spans two-wheelers, passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, agricultural machinery, three-wheelers, all-terrain vehicles, electric switch gears and e-mobility components.

What sets the company apart is the complexity it takes on. RACL Geartech says it is working with a global luxury carmaker on the reverse steering mechanism for an electric sports car, and supplies friction-welded I-shafts fully designed and manufactured in India. It also builds the entire mechanical assembly for an electronic roll control bar on a luxury premium car platform, developed through gear skiving, laser welding and gear grinding — a technology route designed and engineered entirely by its own team.

The company’s quality credentials match its ambition: it is certified to IATF 16949:2016, the automotive industry’s demanding quality standard, alongside ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015, and holds TISAX certification for information security in the automotive supply chain.

A global footprint, built from India

RACL Geartech’s reach extends far beyond Noida. The company says the majority of its revenue comes from Germany, and exports account for around two-thirds of its turnover. To support its European customers, it has set up a fully owned subsidiary, RACL Geartech GmbH in Austria, with warehouses in Berlin, Baden-Baden, Gotha and Linz — last-mile support that keeps its gears flowing to customers across the continent.

Back home, the company’s story is one of steady, quiet growth. The company reported total revenue of ₹425.06 crore in the financial year ended March 2025, with profit after tax of ₹23.74 crore, and its turnover rose to around ₹512 crore in FY26. It is listed on both the BSE and the NSE, under the leadership of chairman and managing director Gursharan Singh.

Engineering for the electric future

As the world’s vehicles go electric, RACL Geartech is moving with them. The company says it is actively developing its product base for the electric mobility revolution, with technologies that play a key role in controlling noise, vibration and harshness — the silent refinement that electric vehicles demand. Its e-mobility range already includes drive trains, wheel axle assemblies and park lock wheels built for the next generation of vehicles.

And its success feeds back into the community. Through its ‘Bright Tomorrow’ programme, the company allocates 2% of its profits to social causes, currently funding the education of more than 500 children from underprivileged backgrounds.

Four decades on, RACL Geartech remains what it set out to be: an Indian engineering company that takes on some of the hardest, most precise jobs in motoring — and does them so well that the world’s finest vehicles run on Noida-made gears. The next time a motorcycle glides through traffic or a luxury car corners in silence, there is a good chance a little bit of Noida is inside, turning quietly, perfectly, at the heart of it all.
