Walk into a modern warehouse and the first thing you notice is not the size of the building — it is how little space is wasted. Aisles are tighter, racks reach higher, and goods move to people instead of people walking to goods. That is the world Tech Mark Automation & Controls has been building from Pune for more than two decades.
Tech Mark specialises in end-to-end warehouse automation and advanced automated storage systems, the company says, designed to improve operational efficiency and optimise space utilisation. Its solutions range from intelligent inventory management software to proven Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), supporting businesses across diverse industries — and, notably, a large number of defence companies.
Built for defence, trusted where it matters
That defence work is worth highlighting first, because it sets the standard for everything else Tech Mark builds. The company’s profile lists defence and aerospace among its core industries, alongside energy, laboratories, banks, electronics, machinery, pharmaceutical, logistics, automobile, textile, packaging, hospitality and government offices.
Its systems have been provided for applications ranging from documents and files to steel pipes, aluminium extrusions, machine parts, aircraft and ship parts, electrical parts and a large variety of spares and in-process storage, the company says. In defence and aerospace work, that means secure, enclosed storage, lockable operating windows, safety sensors, and precise, software-controlled retrieval — the same qualities that make the systems reliable in any high-stakes warehouse.
Tech Mark also integrates its storage solutions with SAP, Oracle and custom ERPs, as well as barcode readers and printers, data acquisition modules, PLCs and RFID devices, the company says. That interoperability matters in defence and government settings, where inventory must be tracked accurately, access must be controlled, and systems must work with existing enterprise software — not around it.
At a glance
Established in 1998, according to its company profile, the Tech Mark group specialises in control and end-to-end automation. Its development is completely indigenous, the company says, and tested extensively in its own plants for over a year. It is an ISO 9001, 14001, 18000 and 27001, CE certified company, with ISO-certified design, development and manufacturing facilities.
Its manufacturing set-up spans 25,000 sq. ft. nearby, with sheet metal, welding and assembly sections, a pneumatic assembly line and high-rise sheds for assembly of storage systems up to and beyond 10 metres in height. Plants at Ambegaon and Shivare, near Pune, support structural fabrication and assembly, and its service network covers Kolkata, Bangalore, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Singapore, the company says.
The full product range
Tech Mark’s profile lists eight areas: ASRS, LeanStore vertical storage, VStore vertical carousel, conveyors, mobile compactors, heavy duty racks, cantilever racks and process automation. Here is what each one does, in the company’s own terms.
1. ASRS — Automated Storage & Retrieval System

An ASRS is a computer-controlled, PLC-based stacker crane system that automatically places and retrieves materials from defined storage locations, the company says. It is generally used where high volumes of goods are stored, allowing more storage space through high-density storage and narrower aisles, while exploiting the vertical height of the warehouse. Inventory is maintained on a FIFO basis and managed through Tech Mark’s advanced Inventory Management System, which also interfaces with the electromechanical components to optionally control pick-and-place operations.
- Mini-Load ASRS — for small parts and cartons, using a high-speed stacker crane.
- Double Deep ASRS — pallets stored two deep, significantly increasing storage density without expanding the building.
- Single Deep ASRS — direct access to every pallet, for faster retrieval and better inventory visibility.

2. LeanStore™ — Vertical Lift Module (VLM)

LeanStore is ideal for mid-sized, mid-weight and heavy-weight components varying in shape, size and weight, the company says. It is completely enclosed using sheet metal cladding, with one operating window at ergonomic level, lockable using an electro-mechanical mechanism, and additional sensors for operator and system safety. Trays are stationary while the retrieving mechanism moves — a platform fitted to vertical chain loops at four corners, with a separate drive for forward and backward movement, bringing the desired tray to the operating window. Tray pitch can be variable, allowing storage of items with variable dimensions.
The company’s website adds that LeanStore supports loads up to 1 ton per tray and can save up to 80% of floor space compared with traditional storage.

3. VStore™ — Vertical Carousel

VStore works on the Paternoster principle, the company says: storage racks are suspended on two vertical chain loops, electrically driven, enclosed by sheet metal cladding, with only one window at ergonomic level for easy loading and unloading. A PLC controller facilitates retrieval by shelf number or part number, and the system can be interfaced with a central inventory management system or ERP through software developed by Tech Mark.
The company’s website adds that VStore uses the complete available height for storage — up to 20 metres — can save up to 80% of floor space, operates in clockwise and anticlockwise directions selecting the shortest path, and runs on VFD technology with noise below 70 dB, with curtain sensors, emergency stop and locking mechanisms.
4. Mobile Compactors

Tech Mark’s motorised mobile storage system uses Easy Glide technology for noise-free, effortless and smooth operation, the company says. It glides on steel tracks, with mobile base units onto which different shelving options can be assembled. When a particular rack is required, the appropriate aisle is opened by mechanical or electrically driven bases — only one aisle is required to service multiple racks.
The company says the system can save up to 60% of floor space compared with conventional static shelving, or increase storage capacity by almost 100%. It is used in warehouses, offices, hospitals, libraries, pharmaceutical companies and industrial facilities.

5. Heavy Duty Racks

Tech Mark’s heavy duty racks use a bolt-free system, the company says, allowing quick installation, easy adjustment and efficient handling of heavy loads, with no nuts, bolts or special tools required. Flexible shelf heights allow storage of different sizes and shapes of materials, and the racks are engineered to handle heavy loads safely in industrial environments, with corrosion-resistant construction and lower installation and maintenance costs.

6. Cantilever Racks, Conveyors and Process Automation
Alongside its headline systems, Tech Mark’s profile lists cantilever racks, conveyors and process automation as part of its range, the company says. Together with pallet racking and mezzanine floor systems, these complete a warehouse storage offering that can be mixed and matched — a LeanStore or VStore integrated closely with an ASRS, for example, so clients can optimise the mix of products stored across locations and machines while maintaining a single interface.

7. WIMS — Warehouse Inventory Management Software
All of this is run by Tech Mark’s Warehouse Inventory Management System (WIMS), the company says. It gives complete control of inventory and document storage and retrieval through a single interface, by part number, name, tray number and other attributes, with role-based, password-controlled access, open APIs and open architecture for integration with third-party systems and databases, web-enabled browser access and mobile access where desired.
Its material inward flow covers goods receipt, quality control, barcode reading, goods rejection notes, reorder-level triggers and multiple reports, while its outward flow covers expiry-date checking, dispatch notes, packing lists and invoices, the company says. Automatic email triggers and alerts can be set for minimum stock levels, expiry dates, and slow-moving or non-moving goods, and multiple storage systems can be configured in one go from the Masters Module.
How the systems work together
Interoperability is a recurring theme in Tech Mark’s profile, the company says: all its solutions can be integrated seamlessly at machine as well as software level. A LeanStore vertical solution or a VStore solution integrated closely with an ASRS is a reality the company builds, allowing clients to optimise the mix of products across locations and machines without losing the automation edge, while still maintaining a single interface.
Its solutions are also designed for varied environmental conditions, the company says, including humidity, temperature and other factors, so they perform at their optimum in a variety of settings — from laboratories and banks to factories, logistics hubs and defence facilities.
Based at Pandhari Industrial Estate, Shivane, Pune, Tech Mark describes itself as a strategic automation partner, delivering scalable vertical and automated storage solutions that help organisations achieve stronger returns on their automation investments through reliability, system integration and long-term performance. In a country where warehouses are getting taller, faster and smarter — and where defence and aerospace work demands the highest standards of accuracy and security — that is exactly the kind of quiet engineering that keeps everything else moving.
