Look up at almost any giant project rising across India — a wind turbine going up, a metro bridge sliding into place, a power plant taking shape — and there is a good chance a bright red and yellow crane from Pune is doing the lifting. That crane belongs to Sanghvi Movers Limited, India’s and Asia’s largest crane rental company, and a homegrown heavy-lifting champion built over 37 years.
Headquartered in Pune, Sanghvi Movers was incorporated in 1989 and listed on the stock exchanges in 1995. From those beginnings, the company says, it has grown into India’s largest fleet of cranes — more than 400 machines — serving over 180 active project sites across the country, and ranking among the largest crane rental companies in the world.
A fleet built for the heaviest jobs
The heart of the Sanghvi story is its fleet. Its crawler cranes with lattice booms lift from 80 metric tonnes all the way to 1,600 metric tonnes, while its truck-mounted and all-terrain telescopic cranes cover 18 to 500 metric tonnes. Add super-lift counterweights, hook blocks, steel mats and a full set of tools and tackles, and the company can take on lifts that few others in the country can attempt.
That capability shows up across the industries that build modern India. The company says its cranes work on power plants — thermal, hydro and nuclear — on wind energy installations, cement plants, steel and metals facilities, oil and gas projects, fertiliser and chemical plants, railways and metro lines, and construction and infrastructure projects from bridges to highways.
From crane rental to complete project partner
Sanghvi Movers began as a crane rental company, and rental remains its core. But the company has grown well beyond hiring out machines. Today it also delivers Wind Energy EPC work — erecting wind turbines with heavy-lifting precision — along with Project EPC services and logistics and transportation, giving customers a single partner that can plan a lift, move the machine, and execute the job safely.
Safety and people sit at the centre of that work. The company’s fleet is operated by certified operators across crane, rigging and safety disciplines, and its projects run to global safety norms — a necessity when a single lift can weigh hundreds of tonnes and sit at the heart of a power or infrastructure project.
Scale that shows up in the numbers
The company’s 35th annual report records consolidated total income of ₹823 crore in FY25, a measure of just how much of India’s construction and energy build-out now passes through its cranes. Its fleet of more than 400 cranes, its 180-plus active sites and its 40-to-1,600-tonne lifting range together make it the default heavy-lifting partner for the country’s biggest builders.
What makes the story special is where it comes from. Sanghvi Movers is not a multinational giant that arrived with a global fleet — it is a Pune company that grew, crane by crane, into Asia’s largest, and now takes its expertise to the Middle East as well. Every wind turbine it raises and every bridge section it sets is a quiet reminder of Indian engineering doing the heaviest work in the country’s growth story.
For a company that spends its days lifting India’s ambitions — quite literally — Sanghvi Movers is a deserving addition to the ranks of the country’s great industrial builders.
