Every ten-minute delivery that lands on a doorstep in Bengaluru or Delhi runs on a rider, a scooter, and a battery that needs to be ready again in minutes, not hours. EMO Energy, a Bengaluru deep energy-tech startup founded in 2022 by Sheetanshu Tyagi and Rahul Patel, built its whole business around that single constraint — and with NEXO, its vertically integrated energy ecosystem, the company has turned the humble dark store into a self-sufficient energy node for India’s quick-commerce fleets.

One system, from sunlight to the scooter

NEXO, launched by the company in June 2025, brings every link of the delivery energy chain under one roof: solar generation on the dark store, EMO’s ZenBase liquid-cooled battery energy storage system, SWFT dual-gun fast chargers, ZenPac battery packs, and the company’s AI-driven SENS health and energy management software, which balances solar and grid inputs to keep riders moving. Where most charging setups stitch together vendors for batteries, chargers, software and power, the company says NEXO engineers all of them to work in sync — and that integration has delivered 25% energy savings and 40% cost reductions at the dark-store level in the company’s testing.

Twenty minutes to eighty percent

The engineering centrepiece is the ZenPac pack itself: a 2 kWh liquid-cooled battery that charges to 80% in 20 minutes, protected by 16 global patents at launch, with active immersion cooling, AI-driven energy management and active cell balancing. The company says the pack has been validated across more than 150 million kilometres of fleet operation, with about 1.2% degradation at 300 cycles and under 2% beyond 400 cycles. Each SWFT dual-gun fast charger serves up to 20 riders a day, so four chargers can keep 80 riders rolling from a single store. The company projects that a NEXO-equipped dark store can power 20,000 delivery rides a month, with solar supplying at least 25% of the energy — and full off-grid operation where grid power is unreliable.

Already powering India’s biggest delivery fleets

This is not a lab prototype. At launch, EMO’s ecosystem already powered more than 6,400 battery-powered vehicles and 900 fast chargers across 200-plus dark stores in 10 cities, serving fleets for Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, Bigbasket and Domino’s. Since then the network has grown to more than 1,500 fast chargers across 12-plus cities, and in June 2026 the company partnered with Revamp Moto to deploy 5,000 electric scooters for last-mile delivery, starting with 1,000 low-speed EVs running EMO’s ZenPac batteries and fast-charging ecosystem. EMO now plans to expand its fast-charging network from over 1,500 to more than 5,000 chargers by the first half of 2027, with the ZEN technology stack behind it rated for more than 3,000 charging cycles. Backed by Gruhas, Subhkam Ventures and Transition VC, the company is quietly building the energy backbone that lets India’s fastest-growing delivery networks keep their promises — one twenty-minute charge at a time.
