Picture a motorcycle that looks ready to leave the tarmac behind the moment you thumb the starter: tall stance, long-travel golden forks, spoked wheels wrapped in block-pattern tyres, and a windscreen built for the horizon. That is the first impression Hero MotoCorp is making with the Xpulse 450, its new adventure flagship, unveiled at EICMA 2026 in Milan on 3 November 2026 — as the company celebrates 25 consecutive years as the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters.

Hero MotoCorp, headquartered in New Delhi, says the Xpulse 450 is a ground-up adventure motorcycle and the most powerful model in its portfolio. Its development draws on direct inputs from Hero MotoSports Team Rally, the company’s Dakar Rally racing arm — and the rally influence shows in every line of the bike, from the tall windscreen and high-mounted exhaust to the long single-piece seat built for moving around off-road.

A brand-new 421cc heart

At the centre of the Xpulse 450 is a brand-new 421cc liquid-cooled, four-valve DOHC single-cylinder engine, developed specifically for this motorcycle. The company says it produces 34.3 kW (46.7 hp) at 9,100 rpm and 38 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox and an assist and slipper clutch. That is nearly double the output of the Xpulse 210, and it moves Hero firmly into the mid-capacity adventure class alongside rivals like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the KTM 390 Adventure.

The engine is controlled by an electronic throttle, bringing ride-by-wire technology with four ride modes — Rain, Road, Trail and Off-Road — so the bike’s character can shift from a wet city commute to a rocky trail at the touch of a button.

Built to go far off the road

Adventure riding lives or dies on suspension, and Hero has given the Xpulse 450 serious hardware. Up front sits a 43mm KYB cartridge-type upside-down fork with 225mm of travel — 15mm more than the Xpulse 210 — with 22-step adjustment for both compression and rebound damping, tuned for absorbing off-road impacts while keeping precise control. The company says the suspension is fully adjustable, built for both road and off-road riding.

The bike rides on spoked wheels with dual-purpose tubeless tyres, carries a 13-litre fuel tank for long touring stints, and gets a rear luggage rack as part of its adventure-touring brief. A substantial engine bash plate, radiator guard and tubular protection around the front bodywork complete the go-anywhere picture.

A cockpit from a bigger class

One of the Xpulse 450’s most talked-about features sits right in front of the rider: a large 7-inch TFT display with built-in Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration, which the company says is a category first. It brings car-style connectivity — navigation, calls and music on a bright, landscape screen — to a motorcycle class where such features are usually reserved for far larger, far more expensive machines.

The Xpulse 450 joins the Xpulse 200, Xpulse 210 Dakar Edition and Xpulse 210 MX in Hero’s adventure family, taking the range’s flagship slot. Hero says the bike has been developed for both Indian and global markets, with global markets first; pricing and an India launch date have not been announced yet.

Novus Labs: Hero’s window into the future

The Xpulse 450 was not the only forward-looking reveal at EICMA 2026. Hero also introduced Novus Labs, its Chairman-led innovation hub for the future of mobility, which starts from people’s unmet mobility needs and turns ideas into working prototypes. At EICMA 2026, Novus Labs presented the NEX 1 and NEX 2 as working prototypes. The NEX 1 is a compact, foldable personal electric vehicle that folds from a carried object into a rideable one, with a top speed of 15 km/h and a range of 20 km. The NEX 2 is a three-wheeled electric trike pairing two-wheeler agility with the stability of three wheels, targeting a range of over 150 km and a top speed above 100 km/h. The NEX range, first shown as concepts at EICMA 2025, won the Red Dot Design Concept Award 2026.

The same Milan showcase saw VIDA, Hero’s electric mobility brand, begin customer deliveries in Europe, and the unveiling of the Harley-Davidson X350T, the Scrambler Concept and the Classic Concept. But the headline belongs to the Xpulse 450: a motorcycle that takes everything Hero has learned in the desert at Dakar and turns it into a flagship Indian adventure bike ready for the world.
