For a hardware startup, the hardest step is rarely the design. A prototype can be proven on a bench, a component can pass every test in the lab — and then comes the question that stalls so many good ideas: who can actually make it, at quality, at scale, again and again? A Bengaluru startup called Venttup has built its whole business around answering that question, and its answer is reshaping how India’s most demanding industries get their parts made.
Venntup, founded by Sandeep Nair, M Wasim Ankli and Joseph Panakkal — engineers whose careers span Hitachi Energy, Siemens, L&T and Kalpataru Power — runs a manufacturing-as-a-service model with a simple, powerful idea at its centre: pair in-house engineering with India’s vast, skilled network of verified micro, small and medium enterprises, and give customers one accountable partner from first prototype to full production.

The missing link between prototype and production
The gap Venttup closes is one every hardware founder knows well. Moving a component from validation to production means design standardisation, rapid prototyping, testing, inspection, certification and supply-chain management — a chain of skills that no single small workshop usually holds end to end, and that a young deeptech company cannot build overnight. The company says its engineering-first approach brings all of that under one roof: design support, fast prototyping, strong vendor partnerships and full quality control, delivered through a network of quality-checked MSME partners.
That combination is exactly what India’s indigenisation push needs. As defence, aerospace, space and energy programmes look to source more critical components at home, they need suppliers who can hold tight tolerances and strict compliance — and who can grow with an order from a handful of prototypes to repeat production. Venttup’s model lets global buyers and Indian OEMs tap proven Indian workshops without having to stitch the supply chain together themselves.
Precision work across four frontiers
The company’s capabilities read like a tour of modern manufacturing: precision machining, turning, casting and forging, sheet metal fabrication, box builds, special purpose machines, industrial automation and robotics, all wrapped in technology-enabled sourcing. It is expanding across four strategic verticals — energy transition and data centres; aerospace, defence and space systems; smart infrastructure and future mobility; and electronics, automation and smart manufacturing.

Behind the platform is a team that knows both sides of the factory gate. The founders bring decades of experience from some of the world’s largest engineering companies, and the startup was incubated at the Kerala Startup Mission. In July 2025 it launched a whitepaper on India’s manufacturing growth story at the Kerala Innovation Festival, setting out how technology and MSME partnerships can turn India into a global manufacturing destination.
A new facility, and a bigger ambition
The company’s momentum is easy to see. The company says its revenue grew fivefold to Rs 10 crore in FY2025-26 since its seed round in 2024, with an order pipeline of around Rs 30 crore and more than 15 blue-chip companies added to its customer base over the past year. On 29 October 2026 it announced a $3 million pre-Series A round co-led by Rainmatter by Zerodha and Unicorn India Ventures, which will expand its engineering team, fund a new precision manufacturing facility in Bengaluru and bring in AI tools to sharpen sourcing and supplier intelligence.
The planned Bengaluru facility will support precision machining, turning and sheet metal production for energy transition, defence, aerospace and space applications — the kind of work where a fraction of a millimetre decides whether a part flies, and where validated, production-ready components are the whole game. As co-founder and CEO Sandeep Nair puts it, India’s next phase of manufacturing growth requires strong engineering capabilities that can translate complex requirements into validated, production-ready components.
That is the promise Venttup is building towards: resilient supply chains for the country’s most critical sectors, and an India that the world trusts as a source of high-value manufacturing. From a prototype on a bench to a production line humming with Indian-made precision parts, Venttup is turning the country’s workshop floor into one connected, engineering-led network — and giving India’s builders a faster road from idea to industry.
